CNU28: Christian Caucus Member Led Session
Call For Proposals

Several years ago a new category of session was launched at the annual congress entitled Member Led Sessions. During the lunch break when rooms are not used, member groups like the Christian Caucus are given the opportunity to use the rooms to organize a session. At CNU24 people met during a Member Led Session to discuss and establish the Christian Caucus. Since then the Christian Caucus has hosted a Member Led session every year.

Because these sessions have grown in popularity the board has decided to bring more structure to the selection process so all Caucus members are aware of the opportunity and are invited to apply to present at the Christian Caucus Member Led Session.

Proposals are due by midnight (PST) on Monday, February 3, 2020.

Call for "Faith & Urbanism" Design Award Entries!

The CNU-MCC is pleased to announce that it is accepting submissions for its "Faith & Urbanism" Award that is given to a person or team who has advanced the principles of the Charter of the New Urbanism in the context of a faith-based initiative. The award description is purposefully broad so that it includes any initiative, not just the design or plan for a place of worship. Submissions are limited to initiatives that were conceived, designed or developed within the past 10 years.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE
Applications for the award must be submitted by Thursday March 12th at 5:00 p.m. EST. There is no limit to the number of submissions, and eligibility is not limited to members of the CNU-MCC. The award will be given at CNU 28 in the Twin Cities.

To submit a project for award consideration, include the items listed below in an email to [email protected] with "Faith & Urbanism Award" in the subject of the email.
  1. Project Description: Describe the basic project information and applicant’s role in the project, using 250 words or less. (Pages: 1 / Size: Letter / Format: PDF)
  2. Project Design Information: Submit project drawings and/or photographs to best communicate the nature of the design work. (Pages: 5 max / Size: Tabloid / Format: PDF)
IMPORTANT NOTE: Submittals that are incomplete and/or do not follow the procedure outlined above will be deemed ineligible for any award.

CNU-MCC's Local Church & New Urbanism Event:
Loving Your Neighbor(hood)
Friday, June 12, 2020

Last year during the CNU Annual Congress, CNU-MCC coordinated an event for local pastors and church leaders in Lousiville to gather with Christian urbanists for an afternoon to discuss the important role of the built environment in promoting human flourishing in our neighborhoods. We will be hosting a similar event in the Twin Cities in conjunction with CNU28. We would love to have you there!
Make note on your calendar and keep your eye out for more details forthcoming about how you can be involved.

The Embedded Church
An initiative of the Surge Network, based out of Phoenix, Arizona, this podcast features various interviews with creative folks working to connect their faith and work.

We think CNU-MCC members will find a recent episode with Jack DeBartolo, an architect, particularly thought-provoking:
